Water Heater Replacement
Water Heater Replacement
When to Replace Your Hot Water Heater
From washing the dishes to cleaning your clothes, and from taking showers to washing your hands, having reliable access to warm, running water is exceptionally important; however, it’s something that many of us take for granted. Like so many other property owners, you might just assume that when you turn on the tap, hot water will instantly flow out of the faucet, as if by magic. While it certainly does seem magical, in reality, you have your hot water heater to thank for the warm water that flows out of your faucets and fills your showers, tubs, and any other basin.
Needless to say, a hot water heater is a vital component of your home or business; however, it isn’t meant to last forever. With regular use, age, and improper maintenance, eventually, this plumbing fixture will need to be replaced. Pay attention to the fixture; if you’re experiencing any of the following, it’s definitely time to consider contacting a hot water replacement professional.
- Leaks. Though they’re meant to process water, a properly functioning water heater shouldn’t leak. If you spot water dripping out of the fixture or you see a pool of water collecting around the tank, something is definitely wrong; components may be damaged or the material the tank is made of may be giving out, for example, and water heater replacement may be necessary.
- Odd sounds. As a water heater ages, sediment collects on the bottom of the tank. Over time, the sediment accumulates, grows thicker, and eventually, it hardens. When the sediment comes in contact with the heating element, it produces noise as it burns away.
- Inconsistent temperatures. Is cold water coming out of the hot tap? If so, it might be time to consider a water heater replacement. A number of issues could be contributing to the problem, but in almost every case, the fixture will need to be replaced.
- Discolored water. Is the water coming out of the taps discolored? If so, you might need to have your water heater replaced. If it’s reddish-brown, or rust-colored, that’s a sign that the interior of the tank is rusting out, and eventually, a leak could occur. Replacing it before that happens is highly recommended.
